Coaster

With A, make a Magic Ring by wrapping the thread around the first two fingers of your dominant hand one full time. With your other hand, carefully grab both strands where they meet and pull the ring off your fingers, place your hook through this ring, yarn over, pull up a loop, and you are ready to begin Rnd 1.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 2 (does not count as a st), 12 dc in ring, pull beginning tail to close center, sl st in first st to join – 12 dc.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st in first st to join – 24 dc.

Rnd 3: Ch 2, [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] 12 times, sl st in first st to join – 36 dc.

Rnd 4: Ch 2, [dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] 12 times, sl st in first st to join – 48 dc.

Rnd 5: Ch 2, [dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st] 12 times, insert hook into first st for joining, yo with color B, pull through st and loop on hook to complete the joining sl st – 60 dc. Leaving a 6 inch tail, cut A and continue remaining rnds with B.

Rnd 6: Ch 2, [dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st] 12 times, sl st in first st to join – 72 dc.

Rnd 7: Ch 2, [dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st] 12 times, sl st in first st to join – 84 dc.

Rnd 8: Ch 2, [dc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in next st] 12 times, sl st in first st to join – 96 dc.

Tip: If you prefer a double thick coaster, fasten off the circle here. Then work a second circle through Rnd 8, but do not fasten off. Place the two circles with WS facing each other and work Rnd 9 through both layers. Be aware that this will double the amount of White thread needed and almost double the amount of Myrtle Green thread needed to complete the coaster.

Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in first st, *skip next st, [3 dc in next st] 2 times, skip next st**, [sc in next st] 2 times, repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, sc in last st, sl st in first st to join – 128 sts. Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

Tie the ribbon into a bow. Lay the coaster on top of a square of parchment paper. The center of the bow should be vertically centered in the rnds of green directly over the end-of-round joins. Glue in place. Cover with a second square of parchment paper and set something heavy on top to hold the bow in place while the glue dries.

That finishes this adorable and festive Christmas crochet coaster! I hope you loved making yours!
