Free C2C crochet scarf pattern

Chandler Cowl is my newest free crochet pattern! This cowl is a free C2C crochet scarf pattern that uses two colors of Ancient Arts Yarn Revival Worsted.

Have you ever used this technique to crochet a project? It’s often used to make blankets, but I wanted to try making something wearable with it. I love how this cowl turned out!

Ancient Arts Yarns Revival Worsted is a yarn made of 100% reclaimed fibers! It is environmentally-friendly and dyed by one of my very favorite indie dyers. I used the colors A Midnight Clear and Embers and Ashes. You can see all the in stock colors of this yarn on the Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts website here.

Where can I get this free C2C crochet scarf pattern?

This pattern is available below, for free! Or you can purchase an inexpensive PDF on Ravelry or Etsy!

I’d like to give credit to Crochet In the Sun, whose C2C Heart pattern I bought and used to learn the technique.

How can I learn the C2C stitch pattern?

I put together a video tutorial for this project! In this tutorial video you will learn the C2C stitch pattern, including how to begin, change colors, read C2C graphs, turn the corners, finish, and seam your cowl.

I recommend dividing each skein in half. Having two smaller skeins of each color worked well for me. When you aren’t working with them, try to leave the two matching skeins on opposite sides of the cowl so that you can use them for the solid stripes along both long sides. When I worked up the first short side, and again going across the second short side, I cut my yarn when I finished a stripe in that color instead of carrying them up the side. Your short sides will be seamed, but not in a way that will cover up any yarn carried up the side.

Odd rows are RS rows. Odd rows 1-15 begin at the right-hand short side of the diagram, then end on the bottom edge of the diagram. After Row 15, odd-numbered, RS rows begin at the top of the diagram and end at the bottom.

You will use the included diagram to determine color placement. To change colors, you begin at the end of the tile before the color change. Work the tile before the change up to the last yarn over (yo) of the last dc. Yo with the new color, then work the slip stitch with the new color and continue in pattern.

Until you turn the first corner, and begin decreasing, each row has as many tiles as its row number. Row 1 has one tile, row 2 has two tiles, row 3 has three tiles, row 10 has ten tiles, etc. In Rows 15-40, every row has 15 tiles. Each row after that decreases by one tile.

Each tile is made of a ch-3 and 3 dc. Each square on the included diagram, represents one tile.

Finishing

Weave in ends.
