What materials do I need for this baby crochet pattern?

You will need yarn of course. This blanket is made with six skeins of Cascade Yarns Anchor Bay, three skeins of a main color, and one skein each of three coordinating colors. This is a soft, easy-care, DK weight yarn that is 50/50 Superwash Merino and Cotton.

You will also need a size H (5 mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks are the Streamline Resin hooks from Furl’s Fiberarts.

Set of five Fulr's streamline resin crochet hooks on a wooden stand with a wooden surface, a plant, and a white crochet piece in the background.

Lastly, you’ll need a tapestry needle to weave in your ends.

This baby blanket is worked from the center out with increases at each corner.

You can begin with any circle-starting method you like. I used a magic ring, which you can learn how to do with this video.

You will use post stitches to make the ribbed stripes. Learn how to crochet post stitches here.
