National Crochet Month 2021
National Crochet Month 2021 blog tour
March is National Crochet Month 2021! I am very happy to be participating in the 2021 blog tour hosted by Crochetville for National Crochet Month. This year’s theme is “The Crochet Concert.” All month long Crochetville will be featuring designers and hobbyists to share the love of crochet, and music, with us all.

If we haven’t had the pleasure of meeting before, I am April Garwood. I am the blogger, owner, and one-woman-show here at Banana Moon Studio. In this photo I am wearing my Stigler Sweater. You can find that free pattern here. It’s written in sizes XS to 5X, so this pattern is for everyone!
I live in Oklahoma with my husband of 18 years and our four daughters. My husband is an excellent yarn-craft enabler — thank you sweetie! My oldest sister taught me to crochet at age 10. I learned to knit in my 20’s and to spin in my 30’s. I blog about all three of those crafts here. I started designing crochet patterns in 2010, with my very first crochet design being published in Interweave Crochet that year. This is Bella Dress and was inspired by a dress that I made for my youngest to wear on her blessing day. This pattern is available from Interweave at this link.
I eventually tired of working on deadlines and always making what editors wanted. I gradually shifted to blogging and self-publishing. As of today, I have published 136 crochet and knitting patterns. You can see them all on my Ravelry designer page. I tend toward accessories and garments that are current. I’m definitely not high fashion (SO definitely not), but I aim to fit in with current styles and trends.
I also share product reviews and lots of great tutorials and how-to videos. For instance I have just begun a series of videos to teach how to read written patterns. This skill really opens up the world of crochet! Or for you more-advanced crocheters, learn new techniques, like crochet cables with this how-to video!
My very latest crochet design is Primula Scarf, which was made with 4 colors of City Tweed DK from We Crochet. Many thanks to them for providing the yarn for this design! This lovely scarf will be featured as part of the Spring Style Blog Hop with Ned & Mimi and Itchin’ for some Stitchin’ on March 3rd, and you can get the download free that day. See the blog post all about that here.
I’m so glad we’ve found each other! Let’s celebrate our new friendship and National Crochet Month 2021 with a discount shall we? March 1-3 you can get 50% off patterns in my Ravelry store by using code NATCROMO21 at checkout! Visit my Ravlery pattern store by clicking this link!
Happy crocheting!
