The Marietta Kerchief is made with just one ball of We Crochet Comfy in the fingering weight. It is a nice, soft 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic yarn. I made one of these vintage-inspired hair kerchiefs in #24812 White and one in #25759 Parchment. My thanks to We Crochet for providing the yarn for this design!

Finished Measurements: About 32 inches wide x 13 inches tall

Yarn: We Crochet Comfy (75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic; 218 yds/199.5 m; 1.75 oz/50 g; weight category 1/super fine): Color #24812 White or #25759 Parchment, 1 skein.

Row 5: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), skip 4 sts, *(4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 5 sts, repeat from * across to last ch-2 sp, 3 dc in last ch-2 sp, turn 69 sts.

Row 6: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), skip 4 sts, *(4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 5 sts, repeat from * across to last 2 ch-2 sps, 4 dc in next ch-2 sp, turn – 65 sts.

Row 7: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), dc in first st, ch 2, skip 4 sts, *(4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 5 sts, repeat from * across to last 2 ch-2 sps, 4 dc in next ch-2 sp, turn – 61 sts.

Rows 8-13: Repeat Rows 2-7 – 41 sts.

Rows 14-19: Repeat Rows 2-7 – 21 sts.

Rows 20-21: Repeat Rows 2-3 – 15 sts.

Row 22: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), skip 2 sts, (3 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 5 sts, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 5 sts, 3 dc in last ch-2 sp, turn – 12 sts.

Row 23: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), skip 4 sts, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 5 sts, 3 dc in last ch-2 sp, turn – 9 sts.

Row 24: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), skip 4 sts, 4 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 4 sts, sl st in last ch-sp – 5 dc, 1 sl st. Fasten off.

Ties

Note: There are 16 long ch-sps along long edge of kerchief. In Row 1 I will refer to each of these ch-sps as a “section” and each section also includes the group of stitches that comes after the ch-sp.

Row 1 (RS): With RS facing, ch 18, working along the long edge of bandana sc in bottom of first st, *7 sc in next section, 8 sc in next section, repeat from * across, one additional sc in bottom of last st, ch 19, turn – 122 sts, 2 ch sections

Row 2: Sc in 2^nd ch from hook, sc in each ch and st across, turn – 158 sts.

Row 3: Ch 1, skip first st, sc in next and each st across to last st, turn, leaving last st unworked – 156 sts.

Rows 4-6: Repeat Row 3 – 150 sts. Fasten off.

Finishing

Block. Weave in all ends.
