The Marietta Kerchief is made with just one ball of We Crochet Comfy in the fingering weight. It is a nice, soft 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic yarn. I made one of these vintage-inspired hair kerchiefs in #24812 White and one in #25759 Parchment. My thanks to We Crochet for providing the yarn for this design!

Ties

Note: There are 16 long ch-sps along long edge of kerchief. In Row 1 I will refer to each of these ch-sps as a “section” and each section also includes the group of stitches that comes after the ch-sp.

Row 1 (RS): With RS facing, ch 18, working along the long edge of bandana sc in bottom of first st, *7 sc in next section, 8 sc in next section, repeat from * across, one additional sc in bottom of last st, ch 19, turn – 122 sts, 2 ch sections

Row 2: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch and st across, turn – 158 sts.

Row 3: Ch 1, skip first st, sc in next and each st across to last st, turn, leaving last st unworked – 156 sts.

Rows 4-6: Repeat Row 3 – 150 sts. Fasten off.

Finishing

Block. Weave in all ends.

    1. Hi Robin. I modeled it on my daughter so that I could work the camera, but the one size will fit older children all the way up to adults. It ties in the back, so it can easily adjust for a range of sizes. Enjoy!

  1. I hope you still answer questions! ???? my gauge is correct, but after the first row or two it seems awfully long. How long should it be before the ties are added?
