What else can I do with these crochet hearts?
You can, of course, use your hearts to make a garland like mine. But what else could you do with this little cuties? You could embroider your sweetheart’s name on them, or some other sweet message and give them as a Valentine. You could make amigurumi out of them by adding safety eyes and an embroidered smile. You could place several in a decorative dish on your coffee table. You could put an individual hanging loop on each heart and hang them as ornaments. You could fill them with a pouch of herbs as a sachet.

What materials and tools do I need to crochet these hearts?
First, you’ll need to get some worsted weight yarn. I suggest Cascade Yarns Anthem, which is a soft, premium acrylic yarn available in a wide range of colors. You can usually find Cascade Yarns at your local specialty yarn store.
You will also need a size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook, three locking stitch markers, poly-fil stuffing, and a yarn needle.
What skills will I need in order to make these hearts?
The hearts begin with a magic circle, aka adjustable loop. The stitches in these hearts are all single crochet, with the exception of a few sc3tog stitches. An sc3tog is a decrease stitch that makes one stitch out of three. It is done by placing your hook in the first designated stitch and pulling up a loop through the stitch. You repeat that in two more stitches. At this point, you have four loops on your hook. You yarn over, and pull through all four loops.
All these skills are demonstrated in the video below, but if you feel you need a video tutorial specifically for them, I have video tutorials for magic circle and the single crochet stitch.
