The yarn I used for these Glenpool Gloves is Lascaux, a worsted weight yarn from Ancient Arts Yarns, one of my favorite indie dyers! It is a moderately soft, squishy yarn that is 25% Manx Loaghtan (a rare sheep breed) and 75% Punta Arenas Wool. I used the color “Daring” for these gloves.

Glenpool Gloves

A Free Fingerless Gloves Knitting Pattern

Handknit fingerless gloves from Banana Moon Studio.

Difficulty Level Easy

Available Sizes Women’s S [M, L]

Finished Measurements 8 [8 ¾, 9 ½] inches long; 7 [7 ½, 8] inches around.

Yarn Ancient Arts Yarns Lascaux (25% Manx Loaghtan and 75% Punta Arenas Wool; 220 yds [200 m]; 3.5 oz [100 g]; CYCA weight 4 worsted): 1 skein in Daring.

Knitting Needles Size US6 [4 mm] circulars, 40 inches long for ribbing; US7 [4.5 mm] circulars, 40 inches long for body of glove. Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain gauge.

Notions yarn needle

Gauge First 25 rows of glove should measure 4” from cast on edge, and match the stated circumference measurement when slightly stretched.

Note

Glove begins with 4 rnds of K1, P1 ribbing. You will work in the rnd until you reach the thumbhole. When you reach the thumbhole, you will work in rows. After the thumbhole is finished, you will resume working in the rnd. Read all chart rows from the right-hand side until you reach the thumbhole. While working the thumbhole, read all RS rows from the right-hand side, and all WS rows from the left-hand side.

Gloves

CO 32 [34, 36]

Rnds 1-4 Working in the rnd work in K1, P1 ribbing.

Switch to larger needles.

Rnds 5-32 [34, 37] Follow chart. White boxes K on the RS, pink boxes P on the RS.

Thumbhole

Row 33 [35, 38] (WS) Turn work, and begin working in rows, follow chart. Remember that white boxes will be purled on the WS and pink boxes will be K on the WS. Read WS rows from left-hand side of chart, RS rows from right-hand side of chart.

Rows 34 [35, 40]-37 [38, 43] Follow chart, working flat, turning work at the end of each row except Row 43.

Rnds 38 [39, 44]-46 [50, 56] Resume working in the rnd, following chart. Resume reading all rows of the chart from the right-hand side.

Switch to smaller needles.

Rnds 47 [51, 57]-50 [54, 60] Continue to work in the rnd, work 4 rnds of K1, P1 ribbing.
