Fall Feels CAL

The Fall Feels CAL began on October 4th. This square is the third one we’ve started. Each Tuesday brings a new square, with the assembly and edging instructions coming out on November 15th.

.

Each square has a different texture and stitch pattern, so that we are learning new stitches as we complete our squares. Each square has free written instructions and a video here on my site, with the option to purchase an ad-free PDF if you prefer that.

Along with crocheting the squares for the blanket, we are talking together in my Facebook group about the squares, the blanket, the CAL, and all things fall! Come join us, get to know other crocheters, and enjoy yourself.

Get all the details about the CAL, and the prizes, in the Fall Feels CAL post.

What supplies will I need to crochet this square?

To crochet this herringbone blanket square you’ll need 3 skeins of Cascade Yarns Pacific #178 Rust. This is a worsted weight 60% Acrylic, 40% Superwash Merino Wool blend. It’s machine washable and dryable.

You will also need a size J (6 mm) crochet hook and a tapestry needle.

I’ve never tried to crochet the herringbone stitch…

No worries! To be honest, I hadn’t either when I made my first Hazelnut Crochet Blanket Square. I looked up a video and learned how to do it. You can too!

You will need to learn the herringbone single crochet stitch (hsc), the reverse single crochet stitch (reverse sc), and the reverse herringbone single crochet stitch (reverse hsc). You will also use chains and standard single crochet stitch. I’ll teach you all of that in the video below!
