This blanket square is worked back and forth in rows of crochet ribbing, and then edged all around with single crochet stitches so that it is easy to join to the other squares in the Fall Feels Throw.

The Fall Feels CAL

.

The Fall Feels CAL is a fun event to learn new stitches, meet crochet friends, and crochet an autumn afghan. The first square was released on October 4th, and this new square on October 11th. Each Tuesday through November 15 a new section of the pattern will be released. On the final Tuesday of the crochet along, participants will get the assembly and edging instructions for the blanket.

In addition to crocheting this fall throw blanket, you can visit with other participants in my Facebook group. Participation in the discussion there will also count as entries in a giveaway for three fall-themed stitch marker sets.

What materials will I need to crochet this blanket square?

You will need 3 skeins of Cascade Yarns Pacific in #150 Blue Sapphire, a J (6 mm) crochet hook, 3 stitch markers, and a tapestry needle.

What skills will I need to crochet this ribbed square?

Crochet ribbing can be made in different ways. This square uses crochet post stitches and half double crochet to make the ribbing. If you haven’t learned how to crochet post stitches before, watch the video below and you can learn how!

This square is crocheted in rows, but then edged all around with single crochet. You will be crocheting into row ends to make that edging, which isn’t hard, but you may want a little guidance if you haven’t done it before.

You will need to make half double crochet stitches, and a few single crochet decreases, abbreviated sc2tog. If any of the techniques or stitches I mentioned are unfamiliar, the video below will be a help. It demonstrates all of the stitches and skills needed.
