Crochet along blanket pattern for fall!

Welcome to the Fall Feels CAL! This crochet along blanket pattern is called the Fall Feels Throw. We will be crocheting squares, each with a unique texture, and putting them together into a fall throw. When the CAL finishes in November, participants will have a lovely finished throw blanket to enjoy for the remainder of the season!

When is the Fall Feels CAL?

We will start crocheting our blankets on October 4, 2022. Starting that day, each Tuesday there will be a new crochet square pattern released. The last Tuesday of the CAL, November 15th, the assembly and edging instructions will be released.

How do I participate in this crochet along?

First, you will need the pattern for this crochet along blanket. The pattern will be available free here on my blog and will be released in pieces as the CAL progresses. You can bookmark this page and come back each Tuesday for the link to the new part of the pattern.

If you prefer, you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry and it will be updated each week with the new section of the blanket pattern.

Next, you’ll want to join my Facebook group, if you aren’t already a member of it! That’s where we will be sharing our progress photos, questions, and comments. There will also be a couple of prize giveaways for those involved in the the discussion in the Facebook group, so be sure to chime in as the CAL progresses!

You will also need yarn to crochet this blanket pattern. I crocheted my blanket with Cascade Yarns Pacific, a 60% Acrylic, 40% Superwash Merino Wool, worsted weight yarn with 213 yds in each 100 g skein.

Below are the amounts of yarn needed for the blanket.

Square 1 – #113 Bordeaux 2 skeins

Square 2 – #177 Rooibos Tea 5 skeins

Square 3 – #178 Rust 3 skeins

Square 4 – #150 Blue Sapphire 3 skeins

Square 5 – #13 Gold 3 skeins

Square 6 – #101 Red Orange 3 skeins

You don’t have to use this exact yarn if you prefer to use something else. You will be very welcome to participate in the CAL no matter what yarn you use. But you will get the best results with a yarn of similar thickness and fiber content.

So what are we making in this crochet along?

We are making a fall throw blanket out of 8 inch squares. There are six different square designs and we will make eight of each square. These can be arranged randomly or in a pattern according to your preference. The blanket will be six squares by eight squares and about 52 inches x 68 inches once it’s edged, or 4 1/3 ft x 5 2/3 ft.

The colors used are perfect for fall, so it will be a beautiful addition to your seasonal decor!

Each of the squares has a different texture. It’s the Fall FEELS crochet blanket and CAL because each square has a different feel to it. I wanted to experiment with different ways to create texture in crochet and share those with you.

Will there be video help for crocheting the blanket?

Absolutely! Each square will have a video tutorial to go along with it, so everyone can participate! I will also have a video for the joining and edging.

It’s my hope that everyone will learn something new in this CAL! I have certainly learned new things in preparing it. I’ve tried out two new-to-me stitch patterns in creating the blanket squares and I’m excited to share with you what I’ve learned. Each of these stitch patterns could be expanded into a full blanket on it’s own, or used in other projects like scarves, pillows, table runners, and more.

Will there be any prizes as part of this fall CAL?

Yes! In fact, the first is already up for grabs! Cascade Yarns has generously provided me with the yarn to make the Fall Feels Throw, and they provided the yarn for one luck winner too. That giveaway already took place on my Instagram channel, but there will be additional prizes during the CAL.

I have three sets of fall stitch markers to give away during the CAL. Each set includes a bunch of bananas because this is Banana Moon Studio, along with four maple leaves in different colors and a pumpkin. Entries for these prizes will be earned by participating in the CAL discussion in my Facebook group. Each post or comment about the CAL will count as an entry and winners will be chosen at random from those entries.

I’m super excited! What now?

I’m so excited too!

First, get your yarn. If you are going to use Cascade Yarns Pacific, I suggest getting it from your LYS right away. If they don’t have the colors you need, but they carry Cascade Yarns, they can probably special order it for you, but make sure they can have it in before the CAL begins on 10/4.

Next, if you plan to purchase the PDF version of the pattern, you can preorder it on Ravelry and it will be updated each Tuesday with the new section of the pattern.

Also, join my Facebook group to visit with everyone and see updates about the CAL! Another optional step would be to subscribe to my newsletter. I will be sending out an email each Tuesday when the new sections are released and if you are subscribed, you’ll be sure not to miss it if Facebook decides not to share my posts with you.

That’s it for now! I’ll be sharing on social media and email as the CAL gets closer with info about the yarn winner and the details. Can’t wait!

Happy crocheting,
