What materials do I need to crochet this cabled scarf?

For starters, you’ll need six skeins of We Crochet Swish Worsted in #26066 Honey, or the color of your choice. I’d love to see it in other colors! You can purchase that yarn with my affiliate link by clicking the button below.

You will also need a size J/10 (6 mm) crochet hook and a tapestry needle. And that’s all.

What skills do I need to know to crochet this cabled scarf?

Cleveland Cabled Scarf Crochet Pattern

Finished Measurements: About 6 3/4 inches wide x 64 inches long.

Yarn: We Crochet Swish Worsted Weight (100% Fine Superwash Merino Wool; 110 yds; 50 g; yarn weight category 4/worsted/medium): 6 skeins #26066 Honey.

Crochet Hook: J/10 (6 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle

Gauge: 21 sts x 11 rows = About 4 inches in Honeycomb Cable stitch.

This pattern uses crochet post stitches to create an all over cable pattern. For help with these techniques, see the tutorial links above in my post.

Scarf

Ch 34

Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch (ch 2 does not count as a st), dc in each ch across – 32 sts

Row 2 (RS): Ch 2, hdc in first st, *skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, working in front of st just made, fpdc in 2 skipped sts, skip next st, fpdc in next 2 sts, working behind 2 sts just made, dc in skipped st, repeat from * 4 times, hdc in last st, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in first 2 sts, *bpdc in next 4 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, repeat from * 4 times, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in first st, *skip next st, fpdc in next 2 sts, working behind 2 sts just made, dc in skipped st, skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, working in front of st just made, fpdc in 2 skipped sts, repeat from * 4 times, hdc in last st, turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, hdc in first st, *bpdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, bpdc in next 2 sts, repeat from * 4 times, hdc in last st, turn.

Repeat Rows 2-5 for pattern.

Work in pattern for a total of 181 rows. Fasten off.
