Crochet summer shrug pattern
I’m so thrilled to tell you about this crochet summer shrug pattern! I was asked to design a crochet pattern for the July 2022 KnitCrate LL Yarn Co. Quarterly Retreat Club! I was given a beautiful mood board of sunsets and sunscapes to inspire the design along with the request that it be something for the home or to wear, but not a shawl. I’m guessing they get a lot of shawl designs.
I was excited to see if I could design a size-inclusive openwork shrug with the 800 yds (300 g) of sport weight yarn that would come in the box to subscribers. It turns out that that was just enough to make a shrug that could work for anyone. The pattern includes four sizes so you can choose how tightly or loosely you’d like your shrug to fit. When I make one for myself to keep, I’ll be making the largest size because I want a nice loose fit (not to mention that I’m not exactly petite).
So here are all the details about this crochet summer shrug pattern:
Sizes: A (B, C, D)
To Fit Bust Circumference: 38 (44, 52, 60)” / 96.5 (111.5, 132, 152.5) cm, or smaller. This is intended to be an oversized garment. Choose a size that is 1-2” / 2.5-5 cm more than your bust circumference for a tighter fit, or choose any of the larger sizes for a looser fit.
Sleeve edge to sleeve edge: 19 ½ (23 ½, 27, 31)” / 49.5 (59, 69, 78.5) cm
Length from neck to hem: 19 ½ (23 ½, 27, 31)” / 49.5 (59, 69, 78.5) cm
Crochet Hook: US H/8 (5 mm), or size needed to match gauge.
Yarn Needed: LL Yarn Co. Canyon (70% Superwash Merino Wool, 30% Outlast Viscose; 405 yds; 150 g; yarn weight category: sport/2/Fine): 1 (1, 2, 2) skeins Valley of Fire.
Notions: tapestry needle
