What materials will I need to crochet this headband?
This headband is made in Plymouth Gina, which is 100% wool, and comes in 109 yd skeins. It will take one skein to make a headband, two skeins to make a hat. If you want to make a slouchy hat in the largest size, you will need three skeins. You can buy that yarn from Amazon by clicking here.
The instructions to crochet the hat can be found only in the paid PDF, which you can purchase by clicking one of the buttons above.
In addition to yarn, you will need a size G (4 mm) crochet hook, or possibly a different size to match my gauge, if needed. My favorite crochet hooks are the Streamline Resin crochet hooks from Furl’s Fiberarts.
Lastly, you’ll need a tapestry needle to weave in your ends.

Difficulty Level: Easy
Finished measurements: 16 [18, 20] inches around x 4 ½ inches wide. Make a size that is 1 to 3 inches smaller around than the wearer’s head circumference.
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn Gina (100% Wool; 109 yds; 50 g; yarn weight category: 4/worsted/medium): 1 skein color #15.
Crochet Hook: G (4 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle
Gauge: 17 sts x 12 rows = about 4 1/4 inches in pattern st.
How to make a gauge swatch
Ch 19
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook (ch 2 does not count as a st), dc in each rem ch, turn — 17 sts.
Row 2: Sl st in first st (sl st counts as a st), *dc in next st, sl st in next st, repeat from * across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 2, dc in each st across, turn.
Rows 4-12: Alternate repeating Rows 2 and 3, ending with a Row 2 repeat.
This is the end of the gauge swatch instructions, but I do not recommend fastening off. You will need nearly the whole skein to complete the headband.
To block your gauge swatch, place a removable stitch marker in your last loop, soak your swatch in a small tub of water, roll in a towel and press to remove excess water, and lay out on a blocking board or similar surface to dry. Once it’s dry, measure to check your gauge.
After you are finished with your gauge swatch, unravel it, and use that yarn for your headband.
Headband
Ch 64 [72, 80], making sure not to twist ch, sl st in first ch to join into a circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc in bottom ridge of each ch around, join to first st with sl st, turn – 64 [72, 80] sts.
Rnd 2: Sl st in first st (first sl st counts as a st), *dc in next st, sl st in next st, repeat from * around to last st, dc in last st, join to first sl st with sl st (joining sl st does not count as a st), turn.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join to first st with sl st, turn.
Rnds 4-13: Alternate repeating Rnds 2 and 3. Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in all ends.
