Recycled Yarn Review, Ancient Arts Revival

Recycled yarn review. Photo showing both knit and crochet swatches, both worsted and sock weight yarns. The yarn is Ancient Arts Yarn Revival, made wholly of recycled fibers. There is a pale pink cake of yarn and a knit swatch on circular needles. There is a yarn label. There is a gray yarn cake with bits of red, yellow, and rust in it and a single crochet swatch. There is a small solid granny square in a light green yarn with bits of dark brown. There is a small, textured knit swatch in the same green colorway, all on a white lace background. Text reads: Banana Moon Studio.

Recycled yarn review

Over the past few months I have had the pleasure of working with Ancient Arts Yarns Revival in both the fingering and worsted weights. I’ve used four different colorways. Today it is my pleasure to share this recycled yarn review with you.

This yarn is made completely of recycled fibers that are reclaimed in the milling process to avoid waste. It feels great to be working with materials that are environmentally friendly! By using this yarn, you help keep these fibers usable, rather than wasted. The yarn is made of 49% wool, 34% mohair, 11% nylon, 4% acrylic, 2% silk. You can have this yarn dyed in so many exciting colorways! Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts dyes most of their bases in around 250 different colorways!

Recycled sock yarn

This yarn is moderately soft and a bit shiny. I have done a lot of great things with it! I used the fingering weight in the color Mint Chocolate Chip to design my first pair of socks. I love how these turned out! The texture is so satisfying. Get the free Catoosa Socks pattern here! You’ll also find helpful tutorials linked throughout the pattern to help you sock newbies.

Recycled worsted weight yarn

Next I used the Revival worsted weight to design a crochet cowl in the very popular Corner to Corner, or C2C pattern stitch. This design uses the two colors A Midnight Clear and Embers and Ashes. You can get the Chandler Cowl free crochet pattern here.

Navy blue and pinkish gray C2C crochet cowl on a gray background. The cowl has a geometric pattern. Text reads: Banana Moon Studio.

I made a brief video to show you what it’s like to work with the yarn. You can see that below or on my YouTube channel.
